Mr. McPhedran, founder of Big Guns Perforating & Logging Inc., has been serving as the Chief Financial Officer of the company since its inception in 1996. In 2013, Mr. McPhedran became President & CFO of what is now Big Guns Energy Services Inc. (BGES). He completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and has been working as a high-caliber Certified Management Accountant (CMA) since 1986. Mr. McPhedran’s insightful leadership combined with his strong financial expertise has paved the way for an 18-year track record of spectacular profit growth at BGES. Recognizing that a solid financial foundation is essential for a growing business, Mr. McPhedran has dedicated his career to the development of strategic financial and management solutions to enhance the company’s financial position. He plays an unparalleled role in creating the company’s long-term sustainability. Prior to founding Big Guns, Mr. McPhedran held leadership positions at renowned corporations such as the TD Bank and NOVA Corporation and other senior positions in Alberta’s energy and chemical industries.
Mr. Lee is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technical Officer of BGES. In 2004, Mr. Lee joined BGES to lead the engineering and technical team with a strong focus on technical expertise in log quality control, log interpretation and casing vent flow analysis. In 2007, Mr. Lee became a member of the BGES’ board of directors. In the following years, he assumed the additional responsibility of facilitating business growth through the creation of integrated value-adding solutions which led to the appointment of Chief Technical Officer in 2010 and of Chief Executive Officer in 2013. His academic credentials include a Master’s degree of Petroleum Engineering, a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering. Mr. Lee is a registered Professional Engineer in Canada and a Chartered Professional Engineer in Australia. He has accumulated over 20 years of experience in engineering, management and entrepreneurial business startups. Mr. Lee offers a unique blend of business acumen, technical expertise, innovation and dynamism that continues to assist in facilitating the success of BGES.
Mr. Naumescu is the Vice President of Operations and has been with BGES since 2011. Prior to this appointment, he formerly served as the Business Development Manager. During this tenure, his strong skills and deep knowledge in tool development and product line management have proven to be an asset for the executive team. Before joining BGES, he has acquired valuable technical and management experience through his previous work at renowned companies such as ATLAS Geophysical Investigation Petroleum in Romania and Baker Hughes in Canada. Mr. Naumescu began his career as an open-hole logging engineer. Over time cased-hole logging, perforating, tool development, product line launches, business development and sales were added to his ever-expanding skillset. He also possesses international experience in countries such as the U.S. and Romania. Mr. Naumescu has a Bachelor’s of Science degree with additional studies from the Petroleum – Gas University of Ploiesti in Romania.
Mr. Cooper joined BGES as the Vice President of Geoscience & Engineering in early 2014, bringing in a wealth of diversified cross-industry experience to this new role. He has accumulated over 12 years of experience in the Energy & Resources industry complemented with additional experience in minerals and metal exploration. Mr. Cooper has proven technical expertise in wellsite geology, core handling operations, petroleum geology in Alberta, project planning and execution. Having worked in both the field and in a corporate setting, he has developed practical skills in managing field operations, large-scale multidisciplinary teams of field and office personnel, and projects valued at over $120MM. He has also been involved in various remote and international projects. Throughout his career, Mr. Cooper has been a key team member in drafting numerous thermal production regulatory applications. Mr. Cooper is a registered Professional Geologist in Canada and possesses a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geology.
Mr. Carlson is an industry expert in caprock and thermal simulations with over 32 years of experience in the petroleum industry, working for such corporations as AMOCO Canada, Home Oil, Petro-Canada and Canadian Hunter. He specializes in reservoir engineering, numerical simulation, and economic evaluations. Mr. Carlson has taught various short courses in the use of production and exploitation simulation software for such companies as Scientific Software-Intercomp and McDaniel & Associates Consultants Ltd. He has authored more than 20 different technical papers and is a member of SPE, APEGGA, the Canadian Well Logging Society, and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists. He is the author of the reference book Practical Reservoir Simulation published by PennWell in 2003. Additionally, Mr. Carlson has served as technical program committee chairman for the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM), director of the National Board of the Petroleum Society of CIM, and was on the Industry Advisory Committee for the University of Regina Petroleum Engineering.
